The JT Makeup Studio, Millside House

In December we moved to a bigger venue, a few yards from the original studio. We are now located in Millside House which is a Victorian building that forms part of the historic Smithies Mills. Textile Warehouses were big business in the Victorian age and this is when Smithies Mills was built. It was owned by the Nussay family, it is well documented that their daughter Ellen was good friends with Charlotte Bronte who visited Smithies Mills on one of her many visits to Birstall. After a real labour of love the JT Makeup Studio is now ready to open its doors and offer our new range of courses. We are proud of our relationships with major Makeup stores such as PAM, Screenface, Kryolan and the Makeup Armoury and we will be offering pop up events with these companies throughout the year. The aim of the JT Makeup Studio is to develop a creative hub for Makeup Artists based in the North of England. We are already planning a summer party in June.

Period Makeup - Tina Earnshaw

Carolyn Cousins will also be back running her period hair classes with a variety of eras.

We now have a small Makeup store area and there is a student membership scheme to support students on full-time college courses for further links with industry. There will also be a similar scheme for trainees.

The JT Makeup Studio Aims

• Provide a range of professional training courses for the hair and makeup industries

• Foster links between northern & southern makeup artists

• Develop a northern makeup community of sharing good practice, masterclasses and networking events

• Offer mentorship and advise for Makeup trainees and students

• Encourage the development of a creative hub for Hair & Makeup Artists based in the North

• Promote the JT Makeup Creative hub experience for the makeup artist community
